It shall be the policy of the School District of Baraboo to evaluate pupil achievement in Grades 4K - 12.The individual pupil achievement shall be recorded and reported/converted on the basis of a 100 point system in Grades 3-12.The 100 points may be translated into letter grades on report cards to parents.The numerical equivalent of the letter grades shall be as follows:
A+99-100
C+83-84
A95-98
C79-82
A-93-94
C-77-78
B+91-92
D+75-76
B87-90
D72-74
B-85-86
D-70-71
F69 and below
No score below 40% shall be recorded for a semester grade.
Allowances should be considered in grading of children who miss class due to: Band, Special Education, Intervention, etc.Included on the report card will be information informing parents of their child’s level of achievement and effort.The letter grades to be reported on the report card shall represent the following definitions of achievement:
“A”Outstanding achievement, has mastered all of the major goals of the course/subject.
“B”Above average achievement, has mastered all of the basic and most of the higher-level goals of the course/subject.
“C”Average achievement, has attained the basic goals of the course/subject.
“D”Below average achievement, has attained a minimum number of the basic goals of the course/subject.
“F”Unsatisfactory achievement, has not attained the minimum basic goals of the course/subject (Failure)
“I”Incomplete, has not completed the requirements of the course/subject.
Weighted Grades
Weighted classes are identified in the course description book.All courses (AP or college prep) may not be offered for the current school year.Grades for work earned from accredited post-secondary colleges or universities will be weighted.
