Through the years hundreds of students from cooperative member families have been honored with scholarships. These scholarships have traditionally been awarded in amounts of $250 to $1000 each. The program is available January 1 – February 26, 2021.
Scholarships are awarded in all fields of post-secondary education from vocational to graduate studies. They are available to adults and dependent children of all ACEC member families currently receiving electric service from ACEC. In 1956, Jon Steinhaus began his career with the former Adams-Marquette Electric Cooperative as an apprentice lineman. He progressed through the ranks and was named General Manager in 1976. Mr. Steinhaus retired in 1996 after 40 years of dedicated cooperative service.
The purpose of the Jon Steinhaus Line Worker Scholarship Program is to encourage men and women to pursue an electric line worker career. Scholarships are awarded annually in the amount of $1,500.
Scholarship eligibility includes anyone who is a high school senior (or older). Successful applicants must be enrolled in an Electrical Power Distribution (EPD) program at a certified EPD school in the United States. Although not a requirement, preference is given to members of Adams-Columbia Electric Cooperative.

This scholarship is available to two current graduates from Baraboo High School, (one male, one female) each year. The students selected will receive full tuition upon being registered in a public University of the State of Wisconsin. To receive the second grant, the student must have demonstrated satisfactory achievement in his freshman year and must be accepted for registration in his sophomore year. Students whose family income entitles them for a Basic Educational Opportunity Grant are not eligible for the McFetridge Scholarship. Students whose family income is such that the family can afford to pay for a college education will not be considered. The student who is selected will come from an income group that is determined by total family income in relation to the number of dependents to be supported.
Students applying for this scholarship must submit a copy of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form used to apply for federal and state student grants, work-study and loans. The following documents must accompany the scholarship application in a sealed envelope. If any of the documents are missing, your application may be disqualified.

In partnership with the Straubel Family Foundation, MREA launched its new scholarship initiative in 2018 to foster student leadership in clean energy: MREA and Straubel Foundation Clean Energy Leadership Award. The award is designed to assist students who are pursuing degrees and/or relevant credentials in renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainability, or clean technology.
Scholarships are awarded to students who reside in the Midwest (WI, MN, MI, IA, IL, IN, OH, MO). Students should possess a clear goal of desiring to make her or his community, environment, or world a better and more sustainable place to live. Students should be able to show prior interest and/or education in the field. Criteria for awarding scholarships are based on leadership skills, student motivation, enthusiasm, and commitment. The Wisconsin GI Bill forgives full tuition and segregated fees for eligible veterans and their dependents for up to eight full-time semesters or 128 credits, whichever is greater, at any University of Wisconsin System or Wisconsin Technical College System school. All Wisconsin high school students (grades 9-12) are eligible to participate in a High School Essay Contest conducted annually by the Wisconsin Labor History Society. The high school students are asked to write an essay of approximately 750 words on the following theme: “Unions have been important to my family and my community because …” and up to eight cash prizes are awarded for the best. The prizes will include one $500 first-place prize, one $300 second-place prize, one $200 third-place prize, and up to five $100 prizes for honorable mention.

In recognition of the tremendous efforts put forth by the Wisconsin’s rural schools to provide their students with quality education in an ever-changing environment, it is with pleasure that the Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance (WiRSA) offers an annual scholarship program.
The scholarship will be awarded annually to one graduating high school senior from each of the four membership regions of Wisconsin as specified in the organization’s bylaws. An additional at-Large scholarship will be given to the next highest scoring applicant. Each recipient will receive a one-time cash scholarship of $750 to be used by the student to help defray the costs of post-secondary education and related expenses. A written essay is required for the application that expands on the following information:

The Wisconsin Security Association (WISA), is pleased to announce the availability of two college scholarships for graduating seniors whose parents are full-time, active members of a Wisconsin police or fire department. One $1,500 Youth Scholarship will be awarded to a son/daughter of an active-duty police department member and one to a son/daughter of an active-duty fire department member. Since 2010 WISA has awarded $31,000 in scholarships.
