The School District of Baraboo communicates daily with Sauk County Public Health on positive COVID and possible exposure cases. We want you to be aware of what triggers a home communication from school.
-
If an individual tests positive for COVID and attends school/school events while infectious, a COVID low-risk exposure letter (see link for example) will be sent through Infinite Campus to parents/guardians of identified students in shared spaces/classrooms and/or an entire school population who are not deemed close contacts. If you receive this communication, your student does not need to quarantine and you should continue to monitor your student for any COVID-like symptoms.
-
If an individual tests positive for COVID and comes in close contact* for 15 minutes or more with others, a COVID high-risk exposure letter (see link for example) will be sent through Infinite Campus to parents/guardians of close contacts. Additionally, a member from Sauk County Public Health or school nurse/official will call to provide steps for quarantine and possible testing.
- Here is a link from Sauk County Public Health to support individuals who are close contacts: https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/publications/p02598a.pdf
*For COVID-19, CLOSE CONTACT is defined by WI Dept. of Health Services as any individual who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes, OR someone who had direct physical contact (e.g. hug, kiss, shake hands, etc.) with an infected person, OR someone who had contact with an infected person’s respiratory secretions (cough, sneeze, contact with dirty tissue, sharing glass, food or other personal items.).
