About

Principal Mr. B

Welcome to Al Behrman Elementary! Baraboo has been my professional and personal home for three decades, and my roots run especially deep right here at ABE.

I began my career in the Baraboo School District back in the fall of 1996 as a special education teacher at what was then South Elementary—the very building we now know and love as Al Behrman Elementary. After spending a year here, I spent 13 wonderful years teaching special education at GLW Elementary before returning home to ABE. I have proudly served as ABE’s principal for the past 16 years, dedicating my daily work to supporting our students, teachers, and school community.

Beyond the classroom, I’ve spent over 15 years coaching high school hockey in Baraboo, including a decade heading the boys' program and five years assisting the girls' team. Staying active in the community and supporting our youth both academically and athletically is a major passion of mine.

At home, my life revolves around my friends and family. I have three daughters, and our household includes our dog and five chickens. In my free time, you’ll usually find me tackling DIY home improvement projects, diving into real estate, or unwinding with a great action movie.

I am looking forward to another fantastic school year at ABE. Please feel free to reach out or say hello when you see me around the building!
